They are filled with stone at the project site to form flexible, permeable, monolithic structures, such as retaining walls, sea walls, channel linings, revetments and weirs for erosion control projects, They have an aesthetically pleasing appearance that will suit the surrounding environment.

If used in aggressive environments, PVC coating can be applied on the galvanized coated wire before the weaving of the mesh. The PVC coating will protect the wire and provide further resistance against chemical, biological and corrosive agents.
