Available in Custom Sizes: Acrylic Semi-Transparent Mirror for Abyss Tunnel Lights
An acrylic tunnel mirror (also known as an abyss mirror, layered mirror, or infinity mirror) is an acrylic product that uses multiple reflections of light to create the visual effect of an "endlessly extending tunnel." Its core consists of a semi-transparent mirror, a total reflection mirror, and an LED light source. It is widely used in Instagram-worthy decorations, illuminated signage, and art installations.
Core Principle
Structure
The front consists of a semi-transparent acrylic lens (partially transparent and partially reflective), while the back features a fully reflective acrylic mirror. An LED light strip is sandwiched between them, and the entire assembly is enclosed by black acrylic to form a sealed chamber.
Optical Effect
LED light is repeatedly reflected between the two mirrors. With each reflection, some light passes through the semi-transparent mirror to form a visible virtual image, while the rest continues to reflect. These layers overlap and gradually dim, creating a visual effect of an infinitely deep tunnel.
Key Point: The semi-transparent mirror and the total reflection mirror must be strictly parallel; otherwise, the image will shift and become distorted.
Materials and Specifications
Material: All components are made of PMMA (acrylic), which offers superior properties compared to glass:
- Lighter than glass (approximately half the weight of glass)
- More impact-resistant (approximately 17 times that of glass)
- Shatter-resistant
- Easy to cut and process
