CCA stands for Cold Cracking Amps,A brand new, fully charged battery that can provide the minimum current value for 30 seconds in a low-temperature environment of 0 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately -17.8 degrees Celsius),
Why is CCA so important?
When the engine starts, it needs a starter motor to drive it to rotate, which consumes a huge amount of current. And in low-temperature environments:
Oil becomes viscous: The oil inside the engine becomes viscous at low temperatures, increasing the engine's running resistance and requiring greater force (torque) to drive the starter motor, thus consuming more current.
Reduced chemical activity of batteries: Low temperatures can slow down the rate of internal chemical reactions in batteries, leading to a decrease in the discharge capacity of the battery itself.
