Disc Cutter Types

The single disc cutter is installed near the edge of the front of the cutter head. It is mostly used to crush hard rock with high uniaxial compressive strength, and is a key component of breaking rock in tunneling. |

Assembly process and quality control
The assembly process is a very important part of disc cutter quality control. For different geology, in addition to the targeted selection of cutters with different properties, the setting of cutter parameters (starting torque, airtight test pressure, etc.) also greatly affects the cutter performance.
Adjustment of bearing preload
According to the technical requirements of the bearing TIMKEN manufacturer, to make the bearing reach the rated load carrying capacity, the bearing must be pre-tightened at -0.02 ~ -0.04mm (about 40N-M torque).
In order to achieve the designed load-bearing capacity of the cutter, the preload of the bearing must be strictly controlled in hard rock or composite formations (only part of the starting torque of the whole cutter), which is particularly important for hard rock formations. For hard rock geology, our disc cutter reduces the starting torque of the whole tool under the premise of satisfying the preload of the bearing and ensuring the tightness, and try to avoid the uneven wear caused by the cutter not turning due to excessive starting torque.
Airtight test
For the groundwater-rich and soft rock zone, the sealing requirements of the cutter are higher, the test pressure is increased to 4Bar, and the time is extended to 30Min.
In addition to strictly controlling the starting torque and sealing test of the cutter, we have to check the height of the disc cutter, the welding quality of each welding point, and the tightening degree of each thread after each disc cutter is assembled to ensure the performance of the cutter.
