Description
Conveyor belts in steel plate unwinding lines (especially cleaning machines, oiling machines, and centering sections) and press lines (loading and conveying sections) face the following challenges:
- Oil resistance: They must resist the erosion of various lubricants, including lubricating oils, stretching oils, and rust-proof oils, preventing belt swelling, deformation, delamination, and strength loss.
- Cut and abrasion resistance: Steel plates (especially blanked blanks) have very sharp edges, which can easily cut and abrade the belt during conveyance. This is a major cause of premature conveyor belt failure.
- Cleaning: The belt surface must be smooth and non-porous, free of oil and metal debris, making it easy to quickly wipe or use automated cleaning equipment to keep the steel plate surface clean and avoid scratches.
- Load-bearing capacity: They must withstand the significant concentrated loads of the steel plate.
- Stability: They must maintain good dimensional stability and resist easy elongation, which would affect tensioning and synchronization accuracy.
Based on the above requirements, high-strength, highly wear-resistant, and food-grade (easy-to-clean) polyurethane (PU) conveyor belts are the undisputed leading choice in this field, perfectly meeting all key requirements.
II. Core Characteristics of PU Conveyor Belts (Why They Are Suitable for This Application)
- Excellent Oil Resistance: PU material inherently offers excellent resistance to mineral oils, vegetable oils, aliphatic hydrocarbons, and other oils, and its performance is not degraded by contact with oils.
- Extremely High Wear and Tear Resistance: PU's wear resistance is approximately 3-5 times that of rubber, effectively resisting scrapes and abrasions from steel plate edges.
- Excellent Cut Resistance: A special material formulation and reinforcement layer design significantly enhance its resistance to transverse cuts.
- Easy to Clean, Non-Toxic, and Odorless: The surface is dense, smooth, and non-sticky, making it washable with a variety of detergents. It complies with FDA/USDA standards and will not contaminate the sheet metal.
- High strength and low elongation: High-tension polyester or Kevlar cord is used as the skeleton material to ensure that the belt body has minimal elongation under heavy load and stable operation.
