Ceramic diamond grinding wheels are grinding tools made by bonding diamond abrasive grains with a ceramic binder, followed by pressing, drying, and firing. They feature high strength, good heat resistance, and high grinding efficiency. These grinding wheels are divided into two types: standard and super-hard. By optimizing the binder formulation and pore structure, their performance is enhanced, addressing the issues of low lifespan, low grinding efficiency, and susceptibility to deformation found in resin wheels. The Li-Al-B-Si-O based low-temperature binder performs best when its content is between 22% and 26%. Low-concentration wheels are used for surface machining, while high-concentration wheels are used for external cylindrical machining.

It is mainly used in the processing of hard and brittle materials such as semiconductor silicon wafers, solar silicon wafers, diamond tools, cemented carbides, cubic boron nitride, new engineering structural ceramics, gemstones, crystals, and rare earth materials (magnetic materials). It addresses surface scratches and processing challenges in areas such as lithium tantalate wafer thinning and PCD tool grinding, and has achieved good economic benefits. Developed countries in Europe and America applied it to the precise machining of cemented carbide hobs more than a decade earlier than China. The standardized domestic 6A2 model products have been gradually promoted since 2008.
