Core Specifications of the 6DR5120
- Type: SIPART PS2 smart electropneumatic positioner for pneumatic linear and part-turn actuators; supports double-acting operation.
- Signal: 2-wire, operates with 4–20 mA plus HART interface, and offers digital communication.
- Position feedback: Enables non-contacting (wear-free) detection (NCS).
- Housing & Connections: Enclosure is polycarbonate; standard threads are electrical: 1/2" NPT, pneumatic: 1/4" NPT.
- Fail-Safe: Includes ability to depressurize actuator on electrical failure (single-acting only).
Commissioning & Initialization
- Power requirements: After mounting, you must supply both electric and pneumatic auxiliary power. The device enters “P-manual mode” with “NOINI” blinking on the display.
- Stages of Initialization:
- Automatic: Device identifies direction of action, stroke length, angle of rotation, and actuator travel time; it also auto-calibrates control parameters.
- Manual: Travel and rotation are set manually (useful for specific valve linings like PTFE).
- Copying Settings: Initialization data can be transferred from one unit to another—enabling seamless device replacement.
Mechanical Setup Tips (from Generic PS2 Manual)
(Note: these procedures apply broadly to the 6DR5xxx series, including 6DR5120.)
- Transmission Ratio Selector:
- For linear actuators:
- Stroke 5–20 mm → selector at 33° (down)
- 25–35 mm or 40–130 mm → selector at 90° (up)
- For part-turn actuators: Set selector to ~90° prior to mounting.
- Friction Clutch Adjustment: Move actuator to horizontal lever; display should read ~P50.0. Adjust clutch until this value is accurate for precise path calibration.
Operating Modes & Controls
The device supports five modes:
- P-manual (factory default) – shows potentiometer value (e.g., “P12.3”), "NOINI" blinks.
- Configuration & Initialization – accessed by holding the operation mode key for ≥ 5 seconds.
- Manual (MAN) – for manual control.
- Automatic (AUT) – normal control mode.
- Diagnostic Display – accessed by pressing all three buttons simultaneously for ≥ 2 seconds.
The device includes three input keys:
- Operation mode key
- Decrement key
- Increment key
These control navigation, configuration, and manual actuator movement.
Diagnostics & Advanced Features
- Diagnostic Display: Shows various metrics using the three buttons. Scroll through variables like fault counts, operating hours, dead zones, etc.
- Parameters such as minimum pulse lengths, dead-zone limits, and alarm counters are available and adjustable.
- Preset and Reset: Preset (PRST) resets to factory, and requires a re-initialization after using.
