Carbaryl 85% WP
Carbaryl 85% WP is a broad-spectrum wettable powder insec tici de containing 85% of the active ingredient Carbaryl (1-naphthyl methylcarbamate), a member of the carbamate chemical family.
1. Product Overview
- Active Ingredient (a.i.): Carbaryl (C₁₂H₁₁NO₂) ≥ 85% w/w
- Formulation: WP (Wettable Powder) – fine, off-white to beige powder, easily mixed with water for spraying
- Chemical Class: Carbamate (IRAC Group 1A: Acetylcholinesterase Inhibitors)
- CAS No.: 63-25-2
- Key Features:
- Broad-spectrum control of over 100 insect species
- Contact + stomach action (kills on touch and when eaten)
- Fast knockdown effect
- Versatile: used in agriculture, horticulture, turf, and animal health
- Low persistence in soil/water; does not bioaccumulate significantly
2. Application Scope & Control Objects
Target Crops
- Fruits: Apple, pear, peach, plum, citrus, mango, banana, strawberry, nuts
- Vegetables: Cabbage, tomato, pepper, cucurbits, potato, okra
- Field Crops: Cotton, rice, corn, soybean, peanut, tobacco, cereals
- Others: Ornamentals, forestry, turf (lawns), livestock/poultry (ectoparasites)
Target Pests
- Chewing Insects:
- Caterpillars (e.g., Cydia molesta, bollworms, armyworms, leaf folders)
- Beetles (e.g., Japanese beetle, red pumpkin beetle, weevils)
- Sucking Insects:
- Aphids, leafhoppers, planthoppers, thrips, scales
- Others:
- Mining insects, ants, fleas, ticks, lice (on animals), earthworms (turf)
- Fruit thinning agent (apples)
3. Mode of Action
- Neurological Poison: Inhibits acetylcholinesterase (AChE) – an enzyme that breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (ACh) in the nervous system.
- Result:
- ACh builds up at nerve synapses → overstimulation of nerves
- Insects experience tremors, paralysis, and rapid death (hours to days)
- Entry Routes:
1. Contact: absorbed through the insect’s cuticle
2. Stomach: ingested while feeding
3. Slight systemic: limited movement within plant tissue
4. Usage & Dosage
General Application Rate
- Agriculture: 0.25 – 2.0 kg of 85% WP per hectare (22 – 176 g/100 L water)
- Turf/Lawn: 1.0 – 1.5 kg/ha
- Animal Health: 80 – 160 g/16 L water (for mites/fleas)

Critical Guidelines
- Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI): 7–60 days (crop-specific; e.g., 14 days for mango/pepper)
- Max Applications: ≤2 per season; minimum 14 days between sprays
- Safety:
- Highly toxic to bees – remove hives before use; notify beekeepers
- Toxic to aquatic life – do not contaminate water
- Wear PPE (gloves, mask, goggles) during mixing/application
