The barcode scanner and usb dongle( data receiver) already paired before delivery ,you can just plug the usb dongle to your
computer or other kind of device through usb port , make sure your device identify the equipment successful,then use the scanner
to read paper barcode , it will upload the data to your computer files like excel ,word or note etc

2,Can a 1d scanner read QR codes ?
No, 1d scanner only can read 1D barcodes like EAN13,UPC,Code128,Code39 etc ,laser scanner only read paper printed 1d barcodes ,and CCD barcode scanner can read paper 1d barcode and phone screen barcodes

It can store around 35000 barcodes (EAN13)
