Three types of martensitic steel

  • a chromium content of 13% content, e.g. W.-nr. 1.4021 ( DIN X20Cr13 ), 1.4028 ( X30Cr13 ),
  • 1.4031 ( X39Cr13 ), 1.4034 ( X46Cr13 ) and 1.4037 ( X65Cr13 )
  • chromium molybdenum vanadium steels, e.g. W.-nr. 1.4116 ( DIN X50CrMoV15 )
  • nickel alloy martensitic chromium alloy steels, e.g. EN 1.4923 ( DIN X22CrMoNiV12-1 ), 1.4057 ( X17CrNi17-2 )


X50CrMoV15 - a special alloy for superb knives

X Stainless steel
50 0.5% carbon - the carbon content is significant for the sharpness
Cr Chromium for stain-resistant properities
Mo Molybdenum enhances the stain-resistant properities
V Vanadium for hardness and edge retention
15 Contents of chromium in % ( 15% )

This is a medium carbon martensitic stainless steel with moderate corrosion resistance
