Description

Natural flake graphite is a mineral that is formed through long-term geological metamorphism of carbonaceous rocks. It is a kind of natural crystalline graphite with a fish scale like appearance and presents a layered structure. Natural flake graphite has excellent high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, thermal shock resistance, radiation resistance, high strength, good toughness, lubrication, plasticity, as well as electrical and thermal conductivity. It is commonly used to make refractory materials, electrode materials for lithium batteries, bipolar plates for fuel cells, brake pads, casting coatings, lubricants, etc. typically appears as fibrous or needle-like crystalline aggregate.

According to the fixed carbon content by mass, natural flake graphite can be divided into four categories: high purity graphite (≥ 99.99%), high carbon graphite (94.00%–99.00%), medium carbon graphite (80%–93%), and low carbon graphite (50%–75%). The technical specifications and main uses of each type of natural flake graphite are shown in the table below.

In Hensen Graphite, we define regular flake graphite as concentrate graphite, which is directly extracted from ore to flotation, purified by mechanical concentration processes only, and with little modification.

It is further divided on the basis of the flake sizes and purity of carbon in the product.
