ST501 Ultrasonic Energy meter uses the most reliable digital signal processing technology, transmitting flow measurement for a wide range of liquid and pipe sizes with high accuracy and reliability. Combined with outstanding performance transducers and higher industrial level materials, Flo-Instruments ensures long-term operation without concerns.

Clear menu display selections make instrument use very convenient. Clamp-on transducers provide flexibility across a wide range of applications.

The ST501 ultrasonic Energy Meter is based on Transit-Time technology, which delivers high measurement accuracy. Using clamp-on transducers, the ST501 collects flow data simply by clamping onto the outside of the pipe, never contacting the fluid, and avoiding liquid pollution, pressure reduction, leakage, and other issues.

Principle
Introduction to TVT

TVT (Transit-Time Vortex) technology represents a cutting-edge approach to ultrasonic flow measurement, combining transit-time ultrasonics with vortex shedding phenomenon capabilities, delivering unparalleled accuracy and versatility in ultrasonic flow meters. This innovative integration technology enhances accuracy, versatility, and performance, making these meters well-suited for a wide range of applications across various industries.

The device features a pair (or more) of ultrasonic transducers installed on the exterior of the pipe (clamp-on) or inserted in-line. One transducer sends an ultrasonic pulse downstream with the flow, while the other sends it upstream against the flow. Since fluid movement affects ultrasound transit time, the time difference between signals is directly proportional to flow velocity.

Installation Methods

V Method

The V method is considered the standard method. It usually provides more accurate readings and is used on pipe diameters ranging from 25mm to 400mm (1"~16") approximately. It is convenient to use but requires proper transducer installation, contact on the pipe at the pipe's centerline, and equal spacing on either side of the centerline.

Z Method

The signal transmitted in a Z method installation has less attenuation than a signal transmitted with the V method because it utilizes a directly transmitted signal that traverses the liquid only once. The Z method can measure pipe diameters ranging from 100mm to 3000mm (4"~120").

N Method

With the N method, sound waves traverse the fluid twice and bounce three times off the pipe walls. It is suitable for small pipe diameter measurement. Measurement accuracy can be improved by extending the transit distance with the N method (uncommonly used).

W Method

As with the N method, measurement accuracy can be improved by extending the transit distance with the W method. The sound wave traverses the fluid four times and bounces four times off the pipe walls. It is suitable for very small pipes (diameters less than 50mm, 2").
