Medical Grade PCL Polymer
  • Technical Principle: Polycaprolactone (PCL) is a synthetic aliphatic semi-crystalline polyester formed by ring-opening polymerization of caprolactone monomers. Its long-chain linear molecular structure features flexible ester bonds, which determine the material’s soft toughness and slow degradation characteristics. Under physiological and natural environments, the molecular ester bonds undergo continuous and uniform hydrolysis, gradually breaking high-molecular polymer chains into small molecular fragments. These fragments are further decomposed and completely metabolized into carbon dioxide and water without toxic residues. Its low glass transition temperature enables stable flexible molecular activity at body temperature, while the regular crystal structure ensures stable mechanical support during degradation, realizing synchronized tissue adaptation and safe material absorption.
  • Core Product Performance: Medical-grade PCL delivers unique comprehensive properties superior to other degradable polymers. It exhibits excellent low-temperature flexibility and ductility, remaining soft, stretchable and non-rigid at human body temperature, effectively fitting skin and soft tissue movement with no foreign body sensation. Featuring steady and controllable degradation, it achieves uniform material loss within 12–24 months, avoiding sudden volume shrinkage and maintaining long-term stable shaping effect. With ultra-high purity and ISO 10993 certified biocompatibility, it causes no inflammation, allergy or immune rejection. In addition, its low melting point and strong material compatibility allow flexible blending with PLLA and HA, supporting diversified processing and customized performance adjustment.
  • Standard Production Process: PCL adopts standardized medical-grade polymerization and purification procedures. The whole production is carried out in a dust-free sterile workshop to ensure high safety and batch stability. High-purity caprolactone monomers are selected as raw materials and refined to remove impurities and moisture. Precise catalytic ring-opening polymerization is conducted under constant temperature and pressure to synthesize high-molecular-weight PCL crude products. After multiple rounds of devolatilization, impurity removal and deep purification, residual monomers and catalysts are completely eliminated. Finally, the finished materials are pelletized, dried and vacuum-packaged, ensuring high purity, stable molecular weight distribution and low sensitization for medical aesthetic and tissue engineering applications.
