Single Mode MDC Duplex Optical Patch Cord - Very Small Form Factor (VSFF)
MDC Patch Cords utilize US Conec's ELiMENT™ MDC assemblies, which are Very Small Form Factor (VSFF) duplex optical assemblies designed for termination of multi-mode and single-mode fiber cables up to 2.0mm in diameter.
Key Features
- 3x fiber cabling density over LC connectors, providing 216 duplex connectors (432 fibers) within 1 RU
- DirectConecm push-pull boot for effortless connector insertion and extraction
- Simple polarity reversal with no exposed fibers
- Meets IEC Attenuation Grade B random mating requirements (0.12 dB mean, 0.25 dB maximum for 97% of connectors)
- Telcordia GR-326 and TIA-568 compliant
- Designed for cables up to 2.0mm OD
- Available in Multi-mode, Singlemode, and Singlemode APC configurations
Applications
Multiple emerging transceiver Multi-Source Agreements (MSAs) have defined port breakout architectures that require duplex optical assemblies with a smaller footprint than LC assemblies. The reduced size of MDC assemblies allows a single array transceiver to accept multiple MDC patch cables that are individually accessible directly at the transceiver interface. This new format supports four individual MDC cables in a QSFP footprint and two individual MDC cables in an SFP footprint. The increased assembly density at the module/panel minimizes hardware size, leading to reduced capital and operational expenses. A one Rack Unit (RU) housing can accommodate 144 fibers with LC Duplex assemblies and adapters, while using the smaller MDC assemblies increases the fiber count to 432F in the same 1 RU space.
