Description of OPGW
The OPGW optical cable integrates optical fibers inside the ground wire of overhead high-voltage transmission lines, creating a secure and efficient communication system along the power network. With its dual role of grounding and data transmission, OPGW ensures both power system protection and reliable communication. The metallic wire structure provides excellent mechanical strength, stability, and long service life. Compared with conventional optical cable installations, OPGW significantly reduces construction time and overall project costs. It is widely used in power transmission projects, substations, and smart grid communication systems.

Application

Structure
The Stranded Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) is manufactured with double or triple layers of aluminum-clad steel (ACS) wires, or a mix of ACS and aluminum alloy wires. Its design is optimized to meet the needs of modern overhead power grids, ensuring both electrical grounding and optical communication.
