A: Moment of inertia is a physical quantity that measures an object's resistance to changes in its rotation. For the fan assembly (clutch + fan), a lower moment of inertia means faster acceleration and deceleration response. This reduces the shock load during engagement and disengagement, is gentler on the belt, water pump bearing, and the entire system, and helps improve NVH performance and component lifespan.
