The cantilever rack (Cantilever Rack) is a type of shelving system constructed by attaching cantilevers to vertical columns. The cantilevers can be either fixed or movable. Due to its branch-like appearance, it is sometimes referred to as a tree-branch rack.
Cantilever racking structure
The cantilever beam-type steel shelf structure consists of columns, beams, cantilever beams, and a base, which is fixed to the ground. Cantilever arms extend from both sides of the vertical columns. The forward cantilever beam features a lightweight structure and strong load-bearing capacity, making it suitable for storing longer materials.
Compared to other types of shelving, cantilever racks have the following characteristics: First, they are particularly suitable for storing pipes, plates, large items, shafts, and irregularly shaped goods. Second, the bottom layer directly contacts the ground, allowing storage of heavier items. Third, the cantilever is extendable, with a maximum length of up to two meters, offering flexibility. Fourth, they provide high storage capacity with minimal floor space, but the ground's load-bearing capacity must be considered when using cantilever racks. Based on load capacity, cantilever racks can be divided into three categories: light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty. Below, we will explore the advantages and disadvantages of cantilever racks. Advantages: First, the cantilever can be single-sided or double-sided, featuring stable structure, excellent load-bearing capacity, and high space utilization. Goods are stored and retrieved by forklifts, overhead cranes, or manual labor. Second, the height typically does not exceed 2 meters, but it can reach up to 5 meters for forklift operations, with a cantilever length of less than 2 meters and a load capacity per arm usually under 1,000 kg. Third, they can store various long and irregular materials.
