The aluminum tanks develop fatigue cracks at the brazed joint connections due to structural vibration from the excavator upper frame, while the internal tube surfaces accumulate mineral scale from the use of untreated water in coolant top-ups. These combined degradation modes reduce heat transfer efficiency to a point where engine operating temperatures approach the thermal derating threshold.

How It Works

The cooling assembly integrates the radiator core, tanks, and mounting system into a single heat exchange unit. Hot coolant from the SANY diesel engine enters the inlet tank and flows through three rows of aluminum tubes. The brazed fins attached to each tube increase the surface area available for convective heat transfer to ambient air. The cooling fan, driven by the engine, forces air through the fin stack at a controlled velocity. The rubber isolators between the mounting brackets and the excavator frame absorb structural vibration, preventing fatigue damage to the brazed joints during extended service life.
