Manual Starters
Manual starters are manually operated devices designed for simple operation without requiring expert intervention. Featuring a button or rotary knob, these starters use mechanical linkages to open or close contacts, starting or stopping the motor. Note that they don't break the control circuit during power loss, potentially allowing automatic motor restart when power returns.
Key Advantages
- Safe and economical operation
- Compact design suitable for diverse appliions
- Overload protection for motor safety
- Wide selection of enclosure options
- Low initial cost
Starter Motor Operation
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the battery to the starter motor, activating the starter drive (Bendix gear system) which engages the vehicle's flywheel. The starter motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion in petrol and diesel vehicles. Once the engine runs independently, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the gear and flywheel.
