Manual Starters Overview
Manual starters are devices operated manually, featuring simple operation without requiring expert intervention. The starter includes a button or rotary knob that enables users to turn connected equipment on or off through mechanical linkages that open or close contacts.
Important Safety Note: Manual starters do not break control circuits during power loss, meaning motors could restart automatically when voltage is restored.
Key Features of Manual Starters
- Safe and economical operation
- Compact size suitable for diverse appliions
- Overload protection for motor safety
- Wide selection of enclosure options
- Low initial cost
Starter Motor Operation
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers charge from the battery to the starter motor, activating it along with the starter drive (Bendix gear system). The motor then engages the vehicle's flywheel, cranking the engine to initiate combustion. Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the flywheel.
