Penetrant Testing Dye Flaw Detection Material
Dye penetrant testing is one of the simplest and most effective nondestructive testing techniques. It offers unique advantages in detecting surface-opening defects that threaten the lifespan of metal and non-metallic components and the safety of pressure vessels, such as weld cracks, fatigue cracks, stress corrosion cracks, grinding cracks, and quenching cracks, offering sensitive detection, rapid results, repeatability, and intuitiveness. These advantages have led to dye penetrant testing playing an increasingly important role in quality assurance systems in the machinery, metallurgy, petroleum, chemical, railway, transportation, shipbuilding, mining, construction, aviation, aerospace, power generation, pressure vessels, and defense industries.
Dye penetrant testing agents can be completely removed with water, resulting in low testing costs. They are particularly suitable for flaw detection on rough surfaces of raw materials and large components, achieving a minimum sensitivity of Class 2 (intermediate). This product is suitable for penetrant testing of rough surfaces, such as castings, forgings, plates, bars, and other metal raw materials, large parts, and structures, requiring Class 2 sensitivity, in the chemical, shipbuilding, railway, petroleum, heavy machinery, metallurgy, military, and pressure vessel industries.
Procedure:
- Pre-cleaning: Thoroughly clean all contaminants (scale, rust, grease, etc.) from the surface of the workpiece being inspected using a detergent.
- Penetration: Allow the workpiece and test block to dry for 5-10 minutes before applying the penetrant. Hold the nozzle 20-30mm from the workpiece and test block. Penetration should be performed according to the instructions, typically for 5-15 minutes. During this time, the inspection surface should be fully moistened with the penetrant.
- Cleaning: Use detergent or water (water pressure ≤ 1.5 kg/cm²) to scrub the penetrant off the workpiece surface.
- Development: After thoroughly mixing the developer, spray it evenly at a distance of 300mm from the workpiece being inspected. Defects can be observed shortly after application.
- After inspection, remove the developer by scrubbing with detergent or water.
- Process and store the workpiece according to process requirements.
Features:
- Rapid penetration and rapid imaging;
- Suitable for solvent cleaning or water pre-cleaning followed by solvent re-cleaning;
- Lower fluorine, chlorine, and sulfur content than other similar products, suitable for inspecting ordinary austenitic stainless steel components;
- High detection sensitivity;
- Contains no toxic, harmful, or strongly irritating organic solvents;
- The valve actuator sprays in a fan-shaped pattern, utilizing imported COSTER large-mouth actuator valves. This provides uniform spray color, wide coverage, no clogging, and a good feel. Interchangeable P, R, and D nozzles are also available.
Scope of Application:
This product is widely used for flaw detection in the chemical, shipbuilding, power generation, aviation, machinery, automotive, metallurgy, railway, and pressure vessel industries.
