OEMs can now specify a PFAS-free IP68 waterproof breathable membrane in custom colors and with precisely tuned airflow to match their product design language and engineering requirements. This membrane combines high-level waterproofing (submersion to 2 meters) with a fully fluorine-free construction, making it suitable for premium consumer electronics, outdoor industrial equipment, and medical devices. Custom color integration and tailored air permeability allow the membrane to blend seamlessly with housing aesthetics while delivering optimized ventilation.

Brand differentiation and product aesthetics require components to match corporate color schemes. Standard white PTFE membranes often stand out and degrade the visual appeal. Additionally, OEMs need to fine-tune venting rates; too much airflow can compromise dust resistance in very dirty environments, while too little leads to slow pressure equalization. A PFAS-free membrane that can be colored and have custom air permeability addresses both design and functional needs without compromising IP68 protection.

We manufacture a PFAS-free membrane with color pigments integrated into the polymer matrix, providing uniform, non-leaching black, gray, blue, or custom Pantone-matched colors. The air permeability is adjustable during the stretching process, allowing us to target values from 100 to 800 ml/min/cm². The membrane maintains IP68 waterproof performance and can be supplied with matching colored adhesive. This allows your vent to be nearly invisible or to stand out as a design element, all while being environmentally compliant.

The colored membrane performs identically to the natural white version. Pigments are added at the masterbatch stage, encapsulated within the polymer, so they do not affect pore formation. Air and vapor molecules pass through the micropores while water is blocked by surface tension. The customized airflow is achieved by controlling the biaxial stretch ratio, which determines pore density and size distribution.

Provide your target airflow and color specification. We will produce color chips for your approval. For IP68, we recommend a minimum membrane thickness of 0.20 mm and a support grid if the port exceeds 10 mm diameter. We can also laminate the colored membrane with a clear adhesive that does not alter the visual effect.
