Why Two Motors Beat One

Most bowl cutters run the knife and bowl from a single motor through a gearbox and belt arrangement. That works, but it locks you into fixed speed ratios. Our SZB-120D uses separate motors for the knife shaft and the bowl, each with its own VFD. This means you can run the knife at 4,000 RPM while the bowl creeps at 5 RPM for ultra-fine fish paste. Or you can run both fast for quick coarse chopping of vegetables. Or knife slow and bowl fast to gently mix delicate ingredients. The combination is up to you, not the gearbox.

Design That Makes Sense

• Independent VFD for Each Motor: Two Delta/Siemen VFDs mounted in a ventilated side cabinet. Each has its own digital display showing RPM, current draw, and run time.
• Knife Motor Overload Protection: The VFD monitors current in real time. If you load too much frozen meat, the VFD automatically reduces speed to prevent motor burnout, then ramps back up when the load eases. It is not an on/off trip; it is intelligent current limiting.
• Bowl Motor with Soft Start: The bowl ramps up smoothly over 3 seconds. No sudden jerking that throws product against the cover. Makes a difference when the bowl is full.
• Energy Saving at Part Load: VFDs only draw the power needed. Running the bowl at 8 RPM on a light mix uses about 40% less electricity than a single-motor machine running everything at full speed.
• Belts with Tensioners: Both belt drives have manual tensioning screws accessible from the side panel. You can adjust belt tension in 2 minutes with a standard wrench.
