Product Overview

The light cone is the small optical element that couples the endoscope's fibre bundle to the light cable at the light guide connector. It looks like a trivial part, but it is where light transmission is either preserved or lost: a scratched, chipped or clouded cone scatters light before it even reaches the scope, and the surgeon sees a dimmer, yellower image no matter how good the xenon source is. Replacing the cone restores full light throughput at a fraction of the cost of a new scope or light cable.

Both fibre-optic and glass light cones are stocked in the common rigid endoscope dimensions. Sizes are stated as outer diameter x inner diameter x length in millimetres.

Selection and Installation Notes
Measure the existing cone with a caliper: outer diameter, inner (bore) diameter and overall length must all match.
Fibre-optic cones are the usual choice for repair work; glass cones are used where the original specification calls for a solid optical element.
Check the cable-side ferrule at the same time — a worn ferrule will damage a new cone on the first connection.
Fit with the light cable disconnected, seat the cone fully without force, and confirm even light output before closing the connector.
Handle by the rim, not the optical faces, and keep the cone in its protective packaging until the moment of fitting.
