Product Overview

The HQ290 open nut is the insert-tube connector component that anchors the flexible insertion tube to the control body of an Olympus 290-series gastroscope. It is a stainless steel part, and in service terms it is a high-wear item: the nut is loosened and re-tightened every time the insertion tube is serviced, and a worn or deformed nut lets the tube seat incorrectly, which shows up as play at the control section and, in the worst case, as fluid ingress after reprocessing.

Installation and Handling Notes
Work with the scope fully drained and disinfected; never open a connector on a wet scope.
Tighten to the torque specified in the service manual — over-tightening deforms the seat and creates exactly the leak path the part is meant to prevent.
Inspect the mating thread on the control body before fitting a new nut; a damaged thread will destroy the replacement.
Perform a leak test after reassembly, and re-check after the first full reprocessing cycle.
