3. Drill rods are usually composed of two parts: the body and the joint
Rod body: The main body is a hollow steel pipe (mostly made of high-strength alloy steel), used for transmitting torque and conveying flushing fluid (cooling drill bits, carrying rock debris). Some drill rod surfaces are designed with spiral grooves or grooves to enhance slag discharge efficiency.
Joint: located at both ends of the rod, connected to the rod through welding or friction welding processes, used for quick docking between drill rods (often using threaded connections, such as male and female buckle designs), requiring high strength and sealing to avoid medium leakage.
4. Core role
Transmitting the torque and impact force of the drilling rig to drive the drill bit to break the formation;
As a medium channel, it transports flushing liquids such as mud and clean water, cools the drill bit, and discharges rock debris outside the hole;
Connect the drill string and drill bit to form a complete drilling system, ensuring the stability of the drilling process.
4.Precautions
Quality certification: Select drill rods that have passed industry standard certification (such as API standards) to ensure that the material and process meet safety requirements.
Maintain compatibility: The joint design of the drill pipe should be easy to maintain (such as replacing damaged joints separately), reducing later maintenance costs.
Manufacturer support: Priority should be given to manufacturers that provide customized services, and drill pipe length or performance parameters should be customized according to special working conditions (such as ultra deep drilling, special geology).
