Application:

This exhaust valve is machined for the Perkins 4.236, 4.248, 6.354.2, A4.236, T4.236, 6.354, 6.354.1, 6.354.4, AT6.354 and G4.236 naturally aspirated and turbo-charged diesels, consequently it is fitted to Massey Ferguson 165-398 series tractors, MF 30-50 back-hoe loaders, MF 550-890 combines, Landini 7860-8880 row-crop tractors, Claas 65-75 forage harvesters, JCB 3CX/4CX back-hoes, New Holland 1116 swathers, 1495/1496 mower-conditioners, Volvo BM 2200 industrial forklifts, FG-Wilson P100-4 and P135-4 generator sets and a wide spread of irrigation, construction and marine auxiliaries that use the above engine families world-wide.

Technical specifications:

The valve head is 36.6 mm in diameter, seat angle 45°, overall length 123.3 mm and stem diameter 9.5 mm; the stem tip is induction-hardened to 52-58 HRC while the lower stem carries a gas-nitrided layer 0.03-0.05 mm thick giving a surface hardness > 850 HV to resist scuffing during prolonged high-temperature exhaust pulses typical of turbo-charged Perkins engines; head and stem are CNC-finished to Ra 0.2 µm to guarantee positive sealing and uniform heat transfer every cycle.

Material & performance features:

Hot-forged from 21-4N (5Cr21Mn9Ni4N) austenitic steel that retains 900 MPa tensile strength at 700 °C, the head is flash-chrome plated (≈3 µm) to cut friction and valve-guide wear while the nitride layer on the stem prevents micro-welding and maintains stable lash over thousands of hours in stop-start field service; the tulip profile is swirl-polished to improve flow co-efficient and reduce pumping losses, giving cleaner combustion and lower fuel consumption across the 4.236/6.354 engine map.
