Application:

T400743 is the current Perkins service number for the exhaust-valve guide used on 6-cylinder 1506A-E87TAG, 1506D-E87TA and 1506D-E88TA diesel engines. These engines are installed in FG-Wilson P165-5, P200-5 and P220-5 generator sets, JCB 457 ZX / 467 ZX wheeled loaders, Dressta TD-15R / TD-20R crawler dozers, Bomag BW226D-5 single-drum rollers and Atlas-Copco XAS 375 / XATS 400 portable compressors, covering 200-300 kW industrial, construction and power-generation equipment that must meet EU Stage IV / EPA Tier 4-F emission limits worldwide.

Technical specifications:

The body is salt-bath nitrided to a 0.02 mm depth exceeding 650 HV and carries an internal spiral oil groove that maintains roundness within 5 µm after five million cycles and extends service life beyond 8 000 h in stop-start genset duty, while the chamfered top lip and centre-less ground h6 tolerance allow press-fit installation into the cylinder head without reaming and the guide operates continuously from –40 °C to +250 °C.

Material & performance features:

The iron matrix is alloyed with 0.7 % Cr and 0.3 % Mo to raise thermal conductivity and creep resistance, then salt-bath nitrided to give a 0.02 mm compound layer > 650 HV that resists scuffing and micro-welding when exhaust gas temperature exceeds 600 °C. The outside diameter is centre-less ground to h6 tolerance so the guide can be press-fitted into the cylinder head without additional reaming, while the internal spiral groove maintains an oil film that keeps stem temperatures below 250 °C even after 8 000 h of stop-start genset service.
