Application:

The intake valve 120166380 is engineered for Perkins 403D/404D three- and four-cylinder diesels (403D-11, 403D-15, 403D-17, 404D-15, 404D-22/T) as well as Shibaura N843/N844 and Caterpillar 3013/3024 builds. It is therefore found in JCB 802-803, Cat 301.6-302.4 mini-excavators, FG Wilson 6.8-13.5 kVA generator sets, Liu-Gong 906/908 diggers, Massey-Ferguson 1700E tractors and Manitou forklifts—covering agricultural, construction and power-generation fleets worldwide.

Technical specifications:

Head diameter 37.0 mm, stem diameter 7.0 mm, overall length 99.5 mm, 45° seat angle, single lock groove; stem ground to −0.025/−0.035 mm for 0.04-0.06 mm running clearance in the standard 7 mm guide. The tip is induction-hardened to 50-55 HRC to 3 mm depth to resist cupping under solid rockers, while the tulip profile is CFD-optimised to increase airflow 4 % versus early straight designs.

Material & performance features:

Forged from low-carbon 21-4N austenitic alloy (21 % Cr, 4 % Ni, 9 % Mn, 0.45 % N), solution-treated at 1150 °C and age-hardened to 28-32 HRC (35 HRC at 700 °C) for high creep strength. The seat face is stellite-faced to 1.0 mm depth (950 HV) to resist low-sulphur diesel and biodiesel attack; a final chrome flash 3 µm on the stem reduces friction and micro-welding, giving >8 000 h service in 24/7 generator duty before re-facing is required.
