The Schneider TM221CE24R is a compact Modicon M221 logic controller with 24 embedded digital I/O points. It provides 14 digital inputs and 10 relay outputs, operates from a 100–240 VAC supply and includes embedded Ethernet communication.

The increased embedded I/O count makes this model suitable for machines that require more control points than a 16-I/O controller but do not yet justify a large number of external TM3 expansion modules.

Its relay outputs support compatible AC or DC control loads, while the Ethernet, serial and USB connections provide options for programming, machine communication and integration with compatible HMI or supervisory systems.

The TM221CE24R is suitable for packaging machinery, conveyors, pumping equipment, small process systems, material-handling machines, HVAC control panels and general industrial automation.

The 14-input and 10-output arrangement provides additional embedded capacity for sensors, selector switches, alarms, contactors and solenoid circuits. Final load compatibility must be checked against the relay contact voltage, current and expected switching frequency.

TM3 modules can be added when additional digital, analog or special-function I/O is required. Expansion limits and bus configuration must be verified using the complete controller and module list.

Verify the full TM221CE24R model. TM221C24R does not include embedded Ethernet, while TM221CE24T and TM221CE24U use transistor outputs instead of relay contacts.

A relay controller must not be replaced with a transistor-output model without redesigning or verifying the field wiring, load voltage and common connections.

Before replacement, save the original controller project, network configuration, serial settings, I/O assignments, expansion layout and firmware information.
