The Yaskawa CDBR-4030B is a previous-generation dynamic braking transistor unit for 380 to 460 VAC-class industrial drive systems. It is rated for 15 A discharge current with a maximum peak discharge current of 40 A.

The module operates with an external braking resistor to dissipate regenerated DC bus energy during deceleration. It is not a resistor unit and should not be ordered without confirming the existing resistor and thermal-protection arrangement.

Compatible System and Applications

The CDBR-4030B was designed for compatible previous-generation Yaskawa industrial drives. Confirm the full drive model and wiring diagram because products with the same 400 V voltage class do not automatically use the same braking module.

Typical applications include machine tools, packaging equipment, conveyors, winders, hoists, centrifuges and other machinery requiring shorter stopping times or control of regenerated energy.

Maintenance and Replacement Notes

Before replacing the unit, check the voltage-selection connector, master or slave setting, DC bus terminals, control terminals, resistor value, resistor thermal contact and enclosure ventilation.

The legacy application table associates one CDBR-4030B with a 40 HP or 30 kW drive under specified braking conditions. Higher-capacity arrangements used multiple units, but the quantity must be determined from the approved selection table.

CDBR-40300D is the corresponding current 15 Arms D-series upgrade candidate. It should not be installed as a direct physical replacement until the mounting dimensions, terminal arrangement, control wiring and resistor compatibility have been reviewed.
