Rod-Eye Sensor for Articulated Machine Motion

The Gefran PC-M-0100 0000X000X00 is a cylindrical potentiometric position transducer with a 100 mm measurement stroke. Its verified Gefran ordering number is F003846. In contrast to a rigid profile-mounted LT sensor, the PC construction uses self-aligning rod-eye or ball-joint mounting for applications where the moving assembly may introduce limited angular variation during its travel.

This mechanical arrangement is relevant to machine linkages, hydraulic or pneumatic actuator monitoring, moving arms and other mechanisms where perfect parallel alignment cannot always be maintained. Gefran publishes an angular movement capability of up to ±30 degrees for the PC family, subject to correct installation and clearance.

Mechanical Selection Considerations

The 100 mm stroke must cover the entire working movement without forcing the transducer against either end stop. Measure the pin-to-pin mounting centers at both minimum and maximum travel. Rod-eye bore dimensions, mounting-pin diameter, body clearance and the direction of angular movement should also be checked against the existing assembly.

The self-aligning ends can accommodate angular movement, but they do not eliminate the need for correct geometry. Excessive side load, binding pins or an offset linkage can still damage the rod, joints or internal resistive element.

Electrical Integration

The PC-M-0100 acts as an absolute voltage-divider transducer. Confirm the excitation supply, signal conductor, common conductor, input impedance and controller scaling from the machine schematic. The electrical interface and connector implementation must be verified from the complete nameplate and installed unit; they should not be inferred from the 100 mm stroke alone.

Differences from Adjacent PC Models

The PC-M-0300 0000X000X00 F003878 provides a 300 mm stroke and requires a considerably longer installation envelope. Other PC stroke versions may retain similar rod-eye construction but have different closed lengths, resistance values and scaling requirements. An AutomationDirect market designation such as PC-M-0100-L should not be assumed to be the same complete ordering configuration as F003846 without documentation.
