The KFD2-SL2-Ex1 is a single-channel safety barrier from Pepperl+Fuchs, designed for loop-powered, 2-wire smart transmitters in Zone 0/20 hazardous locations. It transmits 4 mA…20 mA HART signals losslessly from the field to the safe-area control room, while providing selectable current source/sink output, line fault detection, and configurable alarm direction, ensuring high process data accuracy and integrity.

• True loop power: No additional operating power supply is required, drawing power directly from the 4…20 mA signal for simplified wiring.
• Bidirectional HART communication: Supports remote transmitter calibration via a handheld device or the AMS asset management system, ensuring zero maintenance downtime.

Installation and Maintenance
The KFD2-SL2-Ex1 features a 35 mm DIN rail mount and a slim 12.5 mm housing, saving cabinet space. Pluggable terminals enable online replacement without disconnecting the circuit. With a wide operating temperature range (-40°C to +70°C) and 2.5 kV three-terminal isolation, the KFD2-SL2-Ex1 operates robustly under extreme conditions.
