Clamping Hydraulic Cylinder with Unique Design

Ⅰ. Introduction

Clamping Hydraulic Cylinder is a double-acting hydraulic cylinder which provides a continuous clamping force. A tie-rod is advanced from the housing of the clamp cylinder. The head and pinion of the tie-rod rotate with the help of a toothed rod. Once the clamping process is completed, the reversing hydraulic valve releases the tie-rod, which moves through an angle of about 55 deg. After the release, the tie-rod is returned to the housing of the cylinder.

Clamping Hydraulic Cylinder is a device that supports the workpiece by using its kinematics. It holds the workpiece directly or through a movable support element. The wedge principle has a self-locking design, which means it does not require any energy to operate.Its unique design with a pressure piston seal provides 100% reliability. Its high sliding friction rate ensures a constant clamping force even when the cylinder is released. Once the workpiece is fully secured, the clamping hydraulic cylinder re-clamps. It can also handle vibrations and heavy loads without compromising the precision of the process.

The main function of a clamping cylinder is to secure a positioned workpiece in a fixture. The force that is applied to the workpiece should be transmitted through the workpiece to the bearing points. The direction of the force must extend parallel to the axis of the cylinder and perpendicular to the plane of bearing points. The clamping cylinder must have the ability to resist movement to avoid causing permanent distortion of the workpiece.
