Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) is an efficient and continuous underwater dredging vessel, widely used in port construction,

waterway maintenance, land reclamation, water conservancy projects and environmental dredging.


The operation of a cutter suction dredger unfolds in a remarkably efficient manner. Initially, the cutter head spins

at a rapid speed, slicing and loosening the seabed's sediment. This vigorous action transforms the soil into a slurry

mixture of sediment and water. Subsequently, the powerful mud pump generates an intense suction force, drawing

this slurry through the suction pipe. Within the pump, the slurry is pressurized and propelled through an extensive

discharge pipeline. This pipeline, which can be extended over long distances via onboard systems or floating

hoses, ensures precise deposition of materials at designated locations, be it spoil grounds or reclamation sites.

Working Principle:

Excavation: At the forefront of our cutting-edge Automated Cutter Suction Dredger, a formidable and robust auger

head is expertly mounted. This colossal rotating cutter head, often equipped with sharp cutting teeth, is strategically

lowered to the waterbed, where it spins at incredible speeds. Its mission: to efficiently cut, stir, and pulverize submerged

materials, including mud, clay, and even soft rock, transforming them into manageable substances.

Suction: The reliable auger head is seamlessly supported by a sturdy auger bridge, ingeniously housing an internal

mud suction pipe. Positioned just behind the auger head, the suction port stands ready to act. Once the auger head

loosens the underwater materials, the ship's powerful mud pump-a centrifugal marvel-springs to life, creating a potent

vacuum. This extraordinary force draws in a mixture of water, along with the liberated mud and sand (commonly known

as 'mud'), channeling it through the trusty mud suction pipe.

Transportation: The collected mud undergoes a transformative journey, as it is expertly pressurized and conveyed

through a sophisticated mud pipe system embedded within the dredger's hull, ensuring seamless movement.

Discharge: The final stage involves the strategic transportation of mud to its designated destination through the mud

discharge pipe, offering two efficient methods for optimal disposal:

Direct Shore Discharge/Blowing and Filling: The mud embarks on a direct journey, swiftly traveling through an extended

mud discharge pipeline (comprised of both floating and shore pipes) connected from the ship's stern, directly to the

awaiting land or shoal area for precise filling.

Loading the Barge: Alternatively, the mud finds its way into a specially designed mud barge (a versatile mud transporter)

stationed conveniently beside the dredger. This ensures a smooth transfer to the designated dumping or filling area,

courtesy of the mud barge's adept transportation capabilities



Core Structure
The cutterhead supports the cutterhead and suction pipe, allowing it to be raised and lowered to control the excavation

depth (maximum depth of over 50 meters).

The bridge supports the cutterhead and, on some ship models, can swing left and right to expand the excavation width.

The dredge pump system: The main dredge pump (onboard) and the cabin pump work together to maintain high-concentration

slurry delivery over long distances (up to 10 kilometers).

The dredge discharge pipeline: A combination of a floating pipe (abovewater) and a submersible pipe (underwater), with an

energy dissipation head at the terminal to reduce erosion in the fill area.

The anchor winch: Precisely locates the vessel's operating position, enabling grid-based construction.

The control console: Integrated with automated systems (such as DGPS/Beidou positioning and profile monitoring), monitors

production, concentration, and trajectory in real time.
