HDD rock reamer is a key drilling tool used in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) engineering. Its main function is to further expand the diameter of the completed small-diameter pilot hole by cutting and grinding, in order to lay pipelines or cables and other pipeline facilities in the future. ‌

Structure and Working Principle
HDD rock reamer usually consists of a body structure, cutting components, and connecting devices. Its body structure can be divided into toothed wheel type, plate type (wing plate type) and other types according to design. ‌

The core cutting components include hard alloy teeth, diamond composite discs (PDCs), or cones, which are installed on the blade or replaceable tooth block unit to directly contact and break the rock hole wall. ‌

During construction, the reamer is connected behind the drill rod and provided with rotational power and axial tension by the drilling rig to move forward and rotate inside the hole, continuously cutting the rock on the hole wall and gradually expanding the aperture to the desired size. ‌
