Rubberized balance rope (also named rubber covered flat tail rope / rubber coated balance steel wire rope) is a special composite balance tail rope designed for multi-rope friction hoists in underground mines.

Multiple parallel galvanized steel wire ropes are embedded and fully vulcanized inside a solid rubber casing to form a flat integral structure. It acts as the counterbalance tail rope in mine shaft hoisting systems to offset the self-weight of main hoisting ropes, stabilize traction friction force on friction sheaves, and keep the tension ratio stable whether the cage/skip is at the top or bottom of the shaft.

• Excellent Corrosion Resistance: The full rubber coating blocks mine water, acid/alkali slurry, dust and humid air from touching the inner steel wires, greatly slowing down corrosion in harsh underground environments.
• No Need for Regular Lubrication: Unlike bare steel tail ropes, the rubber outer layer eliminates frequent greasing work, cuts maintenance labor and avoids oil contamination inside the shaft.
• Constant Linear Weight: Mine dust, coal powder and grit cannot stick to the smooth rubber surface, so the weight per meter stays consistent for years and counterbalance accuracy is maintained.
• Non-rotating & Anti-twist Performance: The parallel steel cord layout prevents rope spinning, tangling and looping deformation at the bottom bend section.
• Low Elastic Elongation & Great Fatigue Resistance: Minimal permanent stretch under repeated dynamic load, longer service life than traditional bare flat or round balance ropes.
• Magnetic Non-destructive Testing Feasibility: Operators can conduct regular magnetic inspection to detect internal wire breakage without removing the rubber cover.
• Repairable Outer Rubber: Minor local abrasion on the rubber surface can be repaired on-site instead of replacing the whole rope, lowering operational cost.
• Low Vibration & Noise: Rubber damping effect absorbs vibration from hoisting movement for smoother shaft operation.
