In an internal combustion engine, the inlet valve, also known as the intake valve, is a component that controls the flow of air or air-fuel mixture into the combustion chamber. It is one of the two types of valves found in the engine's cylinder head, the other being the exhaust valve.
The inlet valve opens and closes at specific times in the engine's four-stroke cycle to allow fresh air or a mixture of air and fuel to enter the combustion chamber. The opening and closing of the inlet valve are controlled by the engine's camshaft and timing mechanism.
