What does a cold storage room do?
Cold storage rooms are primarily used to preserve items that are prone to spoilage, decay, or loss of effectiveness at room temperature. Their working principle involves a refrigeration system (including compressor, condenser, evaporator, etc.) that continuously removes heat from the interior. This is combined with a well-designed insulated structure (often using materials like polyurethane for insulation) and a temperature control system to maintain a stable, low-temperature internal environment. Besides, many cold storage rooms also emphasize humidity control and air circulation to prevent excessive moisture loss or surface frost formation on the stored items.

Cold storage facilities can be classified in various ways
| | | Key Characteristics / Applications |
| | High-Temperature Cold Storage | Temperature range typically -5°C to 10°C (23°F to 50°F). Mainly used for storing fruits, vegetables, eggs, pharmaceuticals, etc. |
| | Low-Temperature Cold Storage | Temperature range typically -23°C to -28°C (-10°F to -18°F). Primarily used for storing frozen meat, aquatic products, etc. |
| | Rapid Freezing Storage | Temperature range typically -28°C to -35°C (-18°F to -31°F). Used for the quick freezing of food products. |
| | | A room for pre-cooling products, rapidly bringing their temperature down close to the storage temperature. |
| | | A room for freezing processing of products, bringing their core temperature to a specified low level. |
| | | Used for storing products that have already been cooled or frozen. Divided into "Chilled Products Storage Room" and "Frozen Products Storage Room". |
| | Controlled Atmosphere (CA) Storage | In addition to low temperature, regulates the concentration of gases like oxygen and carbon dioxide inside the room, significantly extending the fresh-keeping period of fruits and vegetables. |
