Water Soluble Crosslinking Monomer NMA48 Low Free Formaldehyde Content
NMA48 is an important water-soluble crosslinking monomer, formulated as an aqueous solution of N-(Hydroxymethyl)acrylamide. This product appears as a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid, with its N-(Hydroxymethyl)acrylamide content stable between 42% and 46%. As an efficient reactive conjugated monomer, NMA48 is widely used in various emulsion polymerization systems, playing a key role especially in the synthesis of self-crosslinking emulsions, significantly enhancing the mechanical properties and durability of the final products.

Performance and Applications
- NMA48 has excellent crosslinking reactivity. The hydroxymethyl and acryloyl bifunctional groups in its molecule can participate in copolymerization reactions during free radical polymerization and form covalent crosslinked networks through self-crosslinking or reaction with other active groups in the system (such as carboxyl, hydroxyl groups) under subsequent heating conditions. This significantly improves the water resistance, abrasion resistance, mechanical strength, and thermal stability of polymers. It is widely used for the crosslinking modification of systems such as acrylate emulsions.
- In the textile printing and dyeing industry, this product is an important crosslinking monomer for textile finishing agents, used to prepare durable press finishes, wash-and-wear resins, and fabric coating agents. It can significantly improve the wrinkle resistance, dimensional stability, and wash-and-wear performance of fabrics while imparting good hand feel retention. It is widely used in the finishing of cotton and polyester-cotton blended fabrics.
- In the adhesives and coatings field, NMA48 is used as a crosslinking monomer for synthesizing self-crosslinking acrylic emulsions, polyurethane dispersions, etc. It can significantly improve product adhesion, chemical resistance, stain resistance, and thermal stability. It is widely used in areas such as architectural coatings, industrial coatings, composite adhesives, paper chemicals, and leather finishing agents.
Advantages
- Aqueous form is convenient to use, avoiding the difficulty of dissolving powder products, improving production efficiency and operational convenience.
- High crosslinking efficiency, strong reactivity, a small amount of addition can significantly improve the crosslink density and comprehensive properties of polymers.
- Wide range of application fields, good copolymerizability with most vinyl monomers, suitable for various emulsion polymerization systems. The free formaldehyde content is relatively low, offering better environmental performance than traditional crosslinking monomers.
