The most widely known use of DIN 41612 connectors is in the VMEbus system.

The DIN 41612 has been widely accepted as a standard for various interconnection applications in telecommunications and data markets worldwide. DIN connectors with three rows (a, b, c) of contacts on 0.100" (2.54mm) square grid are available in wire-wrap or solder tail type terminations. Available pin configurations include 5pin, 10pin, 15pin, 20pin, 30pin, 32pin, 48pin, 64pin, and 96pin.
