The Lightweight Armored 50Ω High-Temperature Cable

The RG166 takes the proven RG165 50Ω high-temperature core and adds a non-magnetic aluminum alloy braided armor. It is engineered for applications where weight must stay low, but the cable must also survive mechanical abuse—rodents, crushing, abrasion, vibration, and harsh outdoor conditions. With the same 50Ω impedance, 3 GHz maximum frequency, 5000 VRMS voltage rating, and 250°C continuous operation as the RG165, the RG166 delivers identical electrical performance. The difference is the armor: a lightweight aluminum alloy braid that protects the cable without introducing magnetic losses or excessive weight. At 281 g/m, the RG166 is significantly lighter than the heavy-duty RG120 armored cable (425 g/m). It is the ideal choice when you need armored protection, high-temperature survival, and 50Ω performance up to 3 GHz—without the bulk of a full low-frequency power trunk.

The RG166 protects its 50Ω core with three distinct outer layers:

1. PTFE Tape Barrier – Protects the core from glass fiber particles and mechanical stress.

2. Fiberglass Braid Jacket – Provides 250°C thermal insulation and high-temperature survival.

3. Aluminum Alloy Braided Armor – Delivers non-magnetic mechanical protection against rodents, crushing, abrasion, and vibration.
