Why is 409 used for exhaust systems?
409 is a titanium stabilized ferritic stainless steel that resists hot exhaust gas oxidation and condensate corrosion, while its lower nickel content keeps it more economical than austenitic grades.
Is the tube easy to weld and bend?
Yes. The seamless body and ferritic structure make 409 tube readily weldable and formable, which is why it is widely used for mufflers and exhaust fabrication.
What standard does the tube meet?
It is manufactured to ASTM A268 and ASME SA268 for ferritic and martensitic stainless steel tubing, and other specifications can be produced on request.
Can I order custom sizes?
Yes. We supply outside diameters from 6 mm to 630 mm and wall thickness from 0.5 mm to 30 mm. Contact us with your requirement for a quotation.
