Orforglipron (LY3502970; a GLP-1 receptor agonist 1) is an orally-administerable glucagon-like peptide (GLP-1) receptor agonist, which can be used for research on adult obesity and type 1 diabete

Phase II clinical trials have demonstrated that oral Orforglipron at different doses can significantly reduce patients' weight by up to approximately 13% in 26 weeks and up to approximately 15% in 36 weeks, which is comparable to the effect of the weekly formulation of semaglutide. This study not only lays a solid foundation for future Phase III weight loss clinical trials but also reinvigorates the weight loss market. In the future, in addition to lifestyle changes such as fasting and exercise, oral or injectable weight loss drugs will undoubtedly become the second weapon in the weight loss field (the third being bariatric surgery), helping humanity combat obesity. It is important to note that currently, 40% of adults in the United States meet the diagnostic criteria for obesity, and 70% are overweight. This means that only 30% of adults in the United States have a normal weight. Moving forward, the weight loss field still needs to address the issue of those 15% or so of patients who cannot tolerate weight loss drugs and the problem of weight regain after successful weight loss. These are also the directions for our joint efforts!
