Connecting Drive Shafts: In the paver's auger system, the auger shaft is often very long and typically made up of multiple short sections connected by Half Flanges. It clamps the ends of two shaft sections together, forming a rigid connection to transmit the rotational torque from the auger motor.
Ease of Maintenance: Because it is split into two halves and secured with bolts, maintenance personnel can easily assemble or disassemble the auger shaft even within the confined space of the auger gearbox, without needing to move the entire shaft or remove all components from both ends.
