General Information of Agricultural Chitosan

Chitosan polymer is a linear polysaccharide composed of randomly distributed β-(1→4)-linked D-glucosamine (deacetylated units) and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine (acetyl units). It is produced by treating the chitinous shells of shrimp and other crustaceans with alkaline substances such as sodium hydroxide.
