Basic Properties

Momentive SnapSil™ TN3005 is a one-component, low volatile siloxane silicone adhesive sealant. It cures at room temperature upon exposure to atmospheric moisture, forming a flexible and durable silicone elastomer. It is designed for applications requiring reliable sealing and adhesion.

Product Description

This sealant is formulated to provide primerless adhesion to a wide variety of substrates commonly used in the manufacturing of electrical and electronic equipment, including many metals, plastics, and glass. It features a fast tack-free time and releases a low-odor alcohol vapor during the cure process, making it suitable for use in confined or sensitive environments. The cured material is non-corrosive to most metals and exhibits flame retardant properties (UL94 HB recognized).

Special Properties

Deepening its core attributes, TN3005 demonstrates excellent adhesion performance, often resulting in cohesive failure within the silicone itself rather than adhesive failure at the bond line, indicating strong bond strength. Its cure profile is dependent on environmental humidity and temperature, allowing cure depth to be managed based on application conditions. A key special feature is its low volatility, which minimizes potential contamination in sensitive electronic assemblies during and after application.

Application Scenarios

SnapSil TN3005 is primarily used for insulating adhesive sealing, fixing, and waterproofing in electrical, electronic, and communication equipment. Specific applications include potting and sealing sensors, connectors, and housings; securing and insulating wires and components on PCBs; and providing environmental seals for electronic control units and outdoor communication devices. It is also suitable as a general adhesive for bonding metals, glass, and various plastics.
