Grade 904L Stainless Steel Overview
Grade 904L stainless steel is a non-stabilized austenitic stainless steel with low carbon content. This high alloy stainless steel contains added copper to improve resistance to strong reducing acids such as sulphuric acid. The steel offers excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and crevice corrosion. Grade 904L is non-magnetic and provides superior formability, toughness, and weldability characteristics.
Key Features of Grade 904L
- Non-magnetic properties
- Superior corrosion resistance compared to Type 316L and 317L
- Excellent resistance to sulphuric, phosphoric, and acetic acids
- High resistance to crevice and stress corrosion cracking
- Excellent formability and weldability
