630 Stainless Steel Bar ASTM A564 Type 630 H1075 Round Bar
17-4PH Stainless Steel Overview
17-4 Precipitation Hardening (Type 630) is a chromium-copper precipitation hardening stainless steel designed for applications requiring high strength and moderate corrosion resistance. This alloy maintains high strength up to approximately 600°F (316°C).
General Properties
Alloy 17-4 PH is a precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel with copper and niobium additions. This grade combines high strength, hardness (up to 572°F/300°C), and excellent corrosion resistance. Mechanical properties can be optimized through heat treatment, achieving very high yield strength up to 1100-1300 MPa (160-190 ksi).

Corrosion Resistance
Alloy 17-4 PH provides superior corrosion resistance compared to standard hardenable stainless steels and is comparable to Alloy 304 in most media. For stress corrosion cracking prevention, higher aging temperatures above 1022°F (550°C) are recommended. The alloy offers excellent corrosion resistance in chemical, petroleum, paper, dairy, and food processing industries.

Heat Treatment
Grade 630 stainless steels undergo solution treatment at 1040°C for 0.5 hours followed by air cooling. Age hardening at low temperatures achieves required mechanical properties with minimal distortion.
