Alloy 347H Properties Overview
Alloy 347H stainless steel is stabilized by columbium and tantalum, providing excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion following exposure to temperatures between 800-1500°F (427-816°C). This alloy offers superior creep and stress rupture properties compared to Alloy 304 and 304L.
General Properties
Alloy 347H (UNS S34709) is the higher carbon (0.04-0.10) version developed for enhanced creep resistance and higher strength at temperatures above 1000°F (537°C). The alloy cannot be hardened by heat treatment, only by cold working, and can be easily welded using standard fabrication practices.
Corrosion Resistance
Alloy 347H exhibits good general corrosion resistance comparable to 304 stainless steel. It performs well in nitric solutions, diluted organic acids, and pure phosphoric acid. The alloy resists polythionic acid stress corrosion cracking in hydrocarbon service but does not perform well in chloride solutions or sulfuric acid.
